Sack Kennedy Agyapong from NPP Now– NPP Group

By Eugene Nyarko Jnr.
A group calling itself the Central Regional Patriotic Movement has petitioned the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the opposition New Patriotic Party, demanding the immediate expulsion of former Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, from the party.
In a petition dated June 19, 2026, and signed by the group’s National President, Issah Ahmed, the movement accused Mr. Agyapong of engaging in sustained public attacks against the party since 2023, which it said had undermined the party’s image and electoral fortunes.
The petition, submitted to the NEC of the NPP, alleged that the former presidential aspirant had consistently made comments detrimental to the party’s integrity and internal cohesion.
Among the allegations cited was Mr. Agyapong’s criticism of the stalled Afari Military Hospital project in the Ashanti Region. The group claimed that his assertions that the previous NPP administration failed to complete the project and allegations that contracts were sold for personal gain were malicious and intended to damage the party’s reputation.
The movement also referenced comments made by Mr. Agyapong following the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election, where he reportedly criticised the early concession speech delivered by former Vice President, Mahamudu Bawumia.
According to the petitioners, such remarks undermined party discipline and could incite division within the rank and file.
The group further cited remarks allegedly made by Mr. Agyapong in August 2025 during an appearance on Pan African TV, where he accused party leaders of neglecting grassroots supporters after winning elections.
The petition also pointed to recent comments attributed to Mr. Agyapong in which he warned that he would “spill the beans” if provoked by the party, describing the remarks as threatening and inconsistent with party values.
Additionally, the movement recalled Mr. Agyapong’s public disagreements with Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe, during the NPP’s Thank You Tour in April 2025, as well as his description of some individuals within the party as “monsters” who suppress dissent.
The Central Regional Patriotic Movement is therefore demanding that the NEC immediately remove Mr. Agyapong from the party without hearing his side, issue a public statement confirming the decision, and caution other members against making similar public criticisms.
The petition was also signed by the group’s organiser, Benjamin Tetteh; Communication Officer, Emmanuel Wiredu; and Research Officer, Isaac Eduful, who are affiliated with the KEEA and Gomoa West constituencies in the Central Region.
