One Arrested Over Murder of Police Officer at Zebilla

The Ghana Police Service has arrested one suspect in connection with the robbery and murder of a police officer at Zebilla in the Upper East Region.

According to a press release issued by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on February 14, 2026, the arrest was carried out by a special team deployed by the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno.

The suspect, identified as Simon Apusiga, also known as Ananga, aged 42, was apprehended on February 10, 2026, following an intelligence-led operation at his hideout in the Tarkwa Huni Valley area of the Western Region.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect fled Zebilla shortly after the incident on February 8, 2026, and was later traced to the Western Region.

The Police said the suspect is currently in custody assisting with investigations and will be arraigned before court to face the full rigours of the law.

The statement further indicated that efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest other suspects believed to be connected to the crime.
