Boakye Agyarko Courts Northern NPP Elders, Calls for Unity Ahead of 2028

By Eugene Nyarko Jnr.

Aspiring National Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Agyarko, has called for renewed unity, grassroots engagement, and stronger involvement of party elders as part of efforts to reposition the party for victory in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during a meeting with the Northern Regional Council of Elders and Patrons as part of his ongoing stakeholder engagement tour, Mr. Agyarko acknowledged growing dissatisfaction among party members across various levels of the party structure.

According to him, the NPP must reconnect with its grassroots base, engage members more effectively, and where necessary, offer apologies to aggrieved members in order to rebuild trust and strengthen internal cohesion.

He emphasized that unity remains critical to the party’s prospects and urged all members to work collectively towards recapturing political power in 2028.

Mr. Agyarko also appealed to the Council of Elders and Patrons to take a more active role in promoting harmony within the party and addressing what he described as increasing indiscipline, which continues to undermine the party’s progress.

The former minister assured the gathering that if elected National Chairman, he would place significant reliance on the wisdom, experience, and counsel of party elders at all levels to help resolve internal disputes and strengthen unity within the NPP.

He further reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the party’s flagbearer, Mahamudu Bawumia, to secure a decisive electoral victory for the NPP in the 2028 polls.

Mr. Agyarko expressed appreciation to the elders and patrons for their warm reception, valuable advice, and continued support, stressing that their guidance would remain essential in shaping the party’s future direction.

The engagement forms part of his nationwide consultations with key stakeholders as he seeks support for his bid to become the next National Chairman of the NPP.
