The Concern Imams of East Ayawaso have congratulated Hon. Baba Jamal on his victory in the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary, describing the outcome as a significant milestone for the constituency.
In a press release issued on February 11, 2026, the group said the victory was not only political but also a reaffirmation of faith and leadership as a sacred trust.
“Your triumph is not merely a political victory; it is, in the sight of Allah, a great victory for the Qur’an. It reaffirms the belief that leadership is a trust (Amanah) bestowed by the Almighty upon those He chooses to serve His people,” the statement noted.
The Imams expressed confidence that Mr. Jamal’s victory signals “a new dawn of inclusive development, unity and progress” for the people of East Ayawaso.
While celebrating the outcome of the primary, the group urged Muslims within the constituency and beyond to strictly adhere to Islamic principles in their political engagements. The statement emphasised that Islam holds women in high esteem and does not oppose women’s leadership, but stressed the need for believers to remain guided by the regulations of the Qur’an in their political conduct and decisions.
The Concern Imams also commended all aspirants who contested in the primary for their decorum and cooperation throughout the process. They called on them to rally behind Mr. Jamal and work collectively to ensure victory in the impending by-election.
“Victory belongs to all of us, and together, we can secure a brighter and more prosperous Nima and the entire East Ayawaso constituency,” the statement added.
The group further appealed to residents of East Ayawaso—both Muslims and non-Muslims—to prioritise peace as preparations intensify for the by-election. They urged all stakeholders to demonstrate tolerance, respect and restraint to safeguard unity and development in the area.
The statement concluded with prayers for divine guidance, wisdom and success for Hon. Baba Jamal as he leads the NDC into the upcoming by-election.
