DISTRICT GOVERNOR URGES ROTARY CLUB OF ACCRA-SPEAKMASTERS TO DEEPEN GIVING AND STRENGTHEN MEMBERSHIP

Story by Eugene Nyarko Jnr. l Accra
The Christ the King Parish Hall came alive with laughter, music, and the unifying spirit of service as the Rotary Club of Accra-SpeakMasters hosted the District Governor (DG) on Monday, November 3, for an evening of fellowship, inspiration, and reflection.
The District Governor’s visit began with a strategic board meeting where she offered insightful guidance on strengthening the club’s internal operations and promoting sustainable growth. Emphasizing teamwork, inclusion, and transparency, she advised the leadership to build stronger administrative systems, noting that “Every effective board needs an Assistant Treasurer and an Assistant Secretary.”
Addressing membership growth, the DG challenged the club to expand its base to at least 30 active members while maintaining full retention. “Let’s not lose members,” she urged. “Rotary thrives on involvement; let’s all get our hands dirty!”
With November being observed as Rotary Foundation Month, she encouraged each member to contribute a minimum of $100 to The Rotary Foundation (TRF), which fuels Rotary’s global humanitarian impact. She further recommended the establishment of a dedicated foundation account to ensure transparency and consistency in giving.
On enhancing Rotary’s public image, the DG underscored the importance of effective storytelling. “Let’s make Rotary attractive. Involve media professionals early, tell our stories creatively, and share the joy and purpose in what we do—people will want to join us!” she emphasized.
Reflecting on October’s Rotary theme of Economic and Community Development, she encouraged the club to expand its Breast Cancer Awareness initiatives beyond health screenings to include financial literacy and economic empowerment training. “Let’s give, let’s do good in the world. Let’s strive to eradicate polio, support the Foundation, and remain true to Rotary’s values,” she said.
The evening climaxed with the induction of a new member and a heartwarming performance by the Rotary Choir, whose melodies filled the hall with harmony and camaraderie.
The meeting was a vivid reminder of Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” showcasing how unity, passion, and purpose can create lasting change in communities.
