The Ghana Police Service has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sanitation and public safety by announcing its full participation in the upcoming two-day National General Cleaning Exercise scheduled to take place across the country.
The nationwide exercise is expected to bring together police personnel, local authorities, community leaders, institutions, and members of the public in a collective effort to improve sanitation, promote healthy living, and create cleaner communities.
According to the Service, officers from all police commands will join residents in various communities to undertake cleaning activities, including desilting choked drains, sweeping streets, clearing refuse dumps, and cleaning public spaces as part of the national campaign to improve environmental hygiene.
The initiative forms part of the Ghana Police Service’s broader commitment to supporting national development efforts beyond its traditional law enforcement responsibilities. The Service believes that maintaining a clean environment contributes significantly to crime prevention, public health, and community well-being.
In a public appeal, the Ghana Police Service urged Ghanaians to actively participate in the exercise, stressing that environmental cleanliness is a shared responsibility that requires the collective efforts of all citizens.
“Join our officers in various communities across the country; let us keep Ghana safe and clean,” the Service stated, encouraging residents to turn out in large numbers to support the exercise.
The Police Service further emphasized that clean surroundings not only help prevent the outbreak of diseases but also contribute to safer neighbourhoods by reducing environmental conditions that can encourage criminal activities.
The two-day National General Cleaning Exercise is expected to reinforce the government’s efforts to improve sanitation nationwide while fostering stronger collaboration between security agencies and the communities they serve.
By working together, the Ghana Police Service believes citizens can help build healthier, cleaner, and more secure communities for the benefit of present and future generations.
