Ho to Host 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration on December 5, 2025 Theme: “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future”

Accra, Ghana — The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has announced that the 41st National Farmers’ Day Grand Durbar and Awards Ceremony will take place in Ho, the capital of the Volta Region, on Friday, December 5, 2025.
Speaking at the official launch of the event in Accra, the Minister for Food and Agriculture described the celebration as a significant milestone that pays tribute to the resilience, hard work, and patriotism of Ghana’s farmers, fishers, and agricultural workers.
Since its inception in 1985, National Farmers’ Day has become one of Ghana’s most cherished annual events, recognizing individuals and groups who contribute immensely to food security, job creation, and national development.
This year’s celebration will be held under the theme, “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future,” reflecting the government’s renewed commitment to achieving self-sufficiency in food production and reducing the country’s reliance on imports.
“The theme embodies our vision to ensure that Ghana produces what it eats and eats what it produces, while promoting inclusive growth and climate resilience,” the Minister stated.
He noted that the choice of Ho as the host city is both symbolic and strategic — symbolic because of the Volta Region’s rich agricultural heritage, and strategic because it aligns with the government’s goal of equitable regional development.
Ahead of the grand durbar, a five-day National Agricultural Fair will be held in Ho from Monday, December 1 to Friday, December 5, 2025, in partnership with Agrihouse Foundation. The fair will showcase Ghana’s latest agricultural innovations in *mechanisation, irrigation, fisheries, digital agriculture, and value addition.
The Minister expressed appreciation to corporate partners, including Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), Exim Bank, Stanbic Bank, and other sponsors for their continued support. He also acknowledged the contributions of key collaborators such as the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Ghana Cocoa Board, FAO, WFP, KOICA, World Bank, AfDB, AFD, and the Governments of Italy, the Netherlands, and Canada for their role in advancing Ghana’s agricultural transformation agenda.
The total budget for this year’s celebration is projected to exceed GHS 20 million, covering activities at the national, regional, and district levels.
The Minister called on corporate institutions, development partners, and philanthropists to support the celebration, emphasizing that investing in farmers is investing in the nation’s future.
