The Ghana International Trade & Finance Conference (GITFiC) has established an Ethics and Admission Committee for its AfCFTA Professional Course following a resolution passed at its 9th Annual Meeting in November 2025.

The decision forms part of measures to strengthen institutional oversight and expand the scope of the AfCFTA curriculum in line with resolutions adopted at the meeting held in Accra last year.

Two key resolutions were approved by Congress. The first mandates the expansion of the study of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) curriculum to include professionals and practitioners across Ghana and the wider African continent under the GITFiC-AfCFTA Professional Course. The programme is expected to cover participants at the pre-tertiary, undergraduate and postgraduate levels across all sectors.

The second resolution calls for the development and submission of a specialised AfCFTA curriculum tailored to Africa’s high school structure, to run concurrently with the existing AfCFTA curriculum for tertiary institutions across the continent.

In compliance with these mandates under the GITFiC Agenda 2031, the newly constituted Ethics and Admission Committee has been tasked with enforcing strict adherence to the regulations governing the AfCFTA Professional Course. The committee is also expected to safeguard academic standards and ensure the welfare of both students and facilitators.

Dr. Michael Kusi-Appiah of the National Development Planning Commission has been appointed Chair of the Committee. Other members include Dr. Samuel Antwi of the Information Services Department, currently under the Office of the President, and Madam Patience Arko-Boham of the Ministry of Finance.

Their appointments take immediate effect.
