NIA to Begin Issuing Ghana Cards to Children Aged 6–14 from October 6

Accra, October 5, 2025 — The National Identification Authority (NIA) has announced the commencement of the issuance of Ghana Cards to children aged 6 to 14 years who have already completed the registration process. The exercise officially begins on Monday, 6th October 2025, across selected districts in the country.
According to the NIA, the first phase of the exercise will cover 56 districts nationwide, with the remaining districts expected to follow shortly after. The cards will be issued at designated registration points — specifically the schools where the children were originally registered.
To complete the process, each child must be physically present, accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who must present the Form A or receipt issued on the day of registration.
The Authority emphasized that the exercise marks an important milestone in extending the Ghana Card to younger citizens, following the successful clearance of all previous backlogs of unprinted cards.
“With all backlogs of unprinted Ghana Cards now cleared, the NIA is fully prepared to ensure a smooth and efficient issuance process,”
— Mr. Williams Ampomah E. Darlas, Head of Corporate Affairs Directorate, NIA.
