The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the opposition New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as “Chairman Wontumi,” has called for renewed courage, energy and strong grassroots leadership as the party prepares for the 2028 general elections.
Speaking at an NPP Minority Caucus meeting held at the Accra City Hotel on Wednesday, Chairman Wontumi stressed the need for the party to rebuild its internal structures and intensify mobilisation efforts at the grassroots level.
According to him, the party’s future electoral success would depend largely on discipline, organisation and effective leadership from within the party base.
“The NPP needs courage, energy, and grassroots leadership for the battles ahead,” he stated.
Chairman Wontumi, who has declared his intention to contest for the party’s national chairmanship position, said he was prepared to lead efforts aimed at repositioning the party ahead of the next elections.

He noted that the task ahead would require dedication to rebuilding the party’s structures and restoring its political strength following recent electoral setbacks.
“Chairman Wontumi has proven he is ready to stand, fight, and deliver for the Party,” he said.
He further called for unity within the party, urging members to remain focused on reorganising and reclaiming political power in 2028.
“The mission is clear; rebuild, reorganize, and reclaim victory,” he added.
