ADB Partners GRNMA to Launch Special Loan Package for Nurses and Midwives

Accra, Ghana – The Agricultural Development Bank (ADB PLC) has unveiled a new loan package tailored specifically for members of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), offering them access to loans of up to GH¢400,000 at highly competitive interest rates.

The initiative, launched at the GRNMA National Headquarters in Shiashi, Accra, aims to address long-standing challenges faced by nurses and midwives in accessing credit, particularly high interest rates, loan limits, and lengthy disbursement delays.

Speaking at the launch, Professor Ferdinand Ahiakpor, Deputy Managing Director (Services) of ADB, said the package was designed to empower health professionals with both financial support and advisory services.

“We are giving them a loan of up to GH¢400,000 with the lowest interest rates available and early disbursement within 24 hours. But beyond loans, we are also offering free financial literacy, investment advice, and technical assistance. This is not just about giving money—it’s about helping our nurses and midwives grow sustainably,” Prof. Ahiakpor stated.

He emphasized that ADB’s motivation is rooted in national development, stressing that financial empowerment for frontline health workers would contribute to inclusive growth.

On his part, Mr. Jones Afriyie Antoh, Esq., Chairman of the GRNMA Loans Committee, hailed the partnership as a game changer.

“Most nurses need loans at concessionary rates, but because of limited resources, we could only give up to GH¢10,000—mostly for consumption. With ADB on board, our members can now access up to GH¢400,000 for investment purposes, helping them open clinics, health centers, or even other entrepreneurial ventures. This will greatly improve their livelihoods,” he said.

According to Mr. Antoh, the new facility will significantly reduce delays, with loans disbursed within 24 hours for ADB account holders and within 72 hours for members banking with other institutions.

The collaboration is expected to boost the financial capacity of nurses and midwives across Ghana, enabling them to invest, build businesses, and improve their quality of life while continuing their critical role in the country’s healthcare delivery.
