Police Arrest Suspect Over Unlawful Entry and Stealing; Stolen Items Retrieved

Police in Accra have arrested a suspect in connection with a case of unlawful entry and stealing at Spintex.
The arrest follows a complaint by a resident who reported that on March 4, 2026, she returned home from work around 4:00 p.m. to find that her house had been broken into. Cash amounting to GH¢1,000 and US$22,350, together with other valuable personal effects, had been stolen.
According to the Ghana Police Service, the suspect, identified as Daniel Odai Afotey, was arrested at Labone Beach on March 11, 2026, following intelligence-led operations.
A search conducted in the suspect’s room led to the recovery of the stolen cash and several other suspected stolen items, including gold watches, jewellery, mobile phones and a television set.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to the offence and mentioned an accomplice identified only as “Ewonam,” who is currently on the run. Police say efforts are underway to locate and arrest the accomplice.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned before court on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Meanwhile, the police said efforts are ongoing to trace the owners of the additional recovered items. Members of the public who may have lost property under similar circumstances within the Spintex, Teshie, Nungua and surrounding communities have been urged to contact the CID Headquarters to assist with identification.
