The President of the Universal Friendship Organisation, Mr. Samuel Adobah, has been honoured with the Youth Peace Advocacy of the Year award at the prestigious Global Peace Ambassadors Awards, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the promotion of peace, unity and social cohesion.
The award celebrates Mr. Adobah’s consistent commitment to peace advocacy and his leadership in advancing initiatives that foster unity and peaceful coexistence across communities. Under his stewardship, the Universal Friendship Organisation has emerged as a dedicated peace advocacy group, successfully implementing several peace-building projects since 2019.
Through these initiatives, the organisation has promoted dialogue, mutual understanding and tolerance, reinforcing its role in addressing conflict and encouraging harmony at both community and national levels.
Speaking after receiving the award, Mr. Adobah underscored the vital role peace plays in human life, stressing that it must be practiced and protected in every part of the world. He called for collective responsibility, noting that peace cannot be sustained by the efforts of a few individuals alone.
“Peace is a shared responsibility, and one cannot promote peace for many to enjoy,” he stated, urging individuals, institutions and communities to demonstrate commitment to peace and unity in their daily lives.
Mr. Adobah also expressed concern over the protracted Bawku conflict, describing it as an issue that has troubled him for years. He noted that disunity among traditional leaders in the area has cost the nation significant financial resources, despite successive governments investing heavily in resolving the chieftaincy disputes.
According to him, the continued conflict has led to the loss of innocent lives and the destruction of property, discouraging investment and development in the area. He stressed that lasting peace and stability are critical to restoring investor confidence and improving the socio-economic well-being of the people.
The Global Peace Ambassadors Awards ceremony honours individuals and organisations making significant contributions to global peace and unity. Mr. Adobah’s recognition serves as a testament to his passion, leadership and unwavering dedication to building a more peaceful and harmonious world.
