The Okaikwei North Municipal Assembly has officially inducted 180 newly recruited Security Assistant personnel under the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), marking a renewed commitment to youth empowerment and community development.

Speaking at the ceremony held at the Municipal Assembly Hall, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, described the event as more than a formality—calling it a symbol of Ghana’s collective resolve to rebuild the nation through service, discipline, and productivity.

Hon. Badger expressed appreciation to the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, popularly known as Obaanaa, for her consistent advocacy for youth empowerment and support for initiatives that create employment for young people.

“The Youth Employment Agency has proven to be one of government’s most impactful programs aimed at equipping young people with employable skills and creating sustainable opportunities for them,” the MCE stated.

He noted that the induction of the security assistants aligns with President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda, which focuses on rebuilding the economy, restoring hope, and promoting civic discipline among the youth.

Hon. Badger emphasized that the YEA Security Assistant model goes beyond providing jobs, highlighting that it represents a commitment to service, integrity, and professionalism.

“As security assistants, you are not only the first line of defense in maintaining safety and order within our communities and institutions, but also ambassadors of responsibility and dedication,” he told the inductees.

The MCE encouraged the new recruits to emulate President Mahama’s leadership values of discipline, service, and devotion to national growth. He assured them of the Assembly’s full support in ensuring that the program translates into lasting livelihoods and career opportunities.

“As we continue to reset our nation under the leadership of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, let us remember that national development depends on our collective effort—government, private sector, and citizens alike,” Hon. Badger concluded.

The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, Assembly officials, YEA coordinators, and members of the media, who all lauded the initiative as a milestone in promoting youth inclusion and local security in the Okaikwei North Municipality.
