The Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Lydia Yaako Donkor, has met with executives of the Nigeria Transport Association in Ghana as part of renewed efforts to strengthen collaboration in the fight against human trafficking.
The engagement forms part of ongoing measures by the Ghana Police Service to deepen stakeholder partnerships and enhance preventive strategies against the crime.
Addressing the executives, COP Donkor underscored the crucial role transport operators play in detecting and reporting suspicious movements. She noted that human traffickers often exploit transport networks to move victims across borders and within the sub-region.
She therefore urged members of the Association to remain vigilant and proactive, stressing that their cooperation is vital in identifying and reporting suspicious activities to support law enforcement operations.

The Deputy Director-General of CID, Solomon Ayawine Aboninga, sensitized participants on key indicators of human trafficking, while the Director of the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, William Ayaregah, called for the prompt reporting of suspected cases to enable swift intervention.
Representing the Association, Deputy Secretary Prince Rotimi Adeye assured the CID administration of the group’s full cooperation. He pledged that members would work closely with the Ghana Police Service to help curb human trafficking activities across transport corridors.
